Elena, the secretly married wife of mafia boss Dante, is in a car accident that kills their unborn twins. At the moment of the crash, Dante is holding Sofia—the mistress who hit her—asking if she's hurt, and all thirty-one of Elena's desperate calls for help go unanswered. Heartbroken, Elena leaves behind divorce papers and walks away, only to be taken in and pursued by Roman, the chairman of the family council whom she saved eight years ago. Dante goes mad chasing his wife only after losing her, while Sofia keeps striking back—and in the end, Dante loses both his power and any chance of having children again.
